Flanzie Thomas
Board of Trustee
Flanzie Thomas grew up in a small town outside of Philadelphia, PA. Yeadon is where most of her educational years were spent – after high school Thomas matriculated and graduated with a BA degree in Liberal Arts from Cheyney State College, which later became Cheyney University in Cheyney, PA. With her degree in communications, she pursued a career in broadcasting and print media, which later landed her a position as an education writer for one of the oldest black newspapers in the country, The Philadelphia Tribune. From there she gained experience at a local television station, KYW-TV3 in Philadelphia.
During Thomas’ journey, she migrated to Atlanta, GA to work in the newsroom for WSB-TV and she involved herself in various independent filmmaking productions. Being “bit by the entertainment bug,” Thomas moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry. As she vigorously worked in entertainment, she also completed an MBA in marketing from the University of Leicester in Leicester, England. In addition, to working, she volunteers at Moviola Digital Institute, assisting in postproduction.
